Those grow wild all over my property - I knew the purple were Asters, but didn't realize the whites were too. I just love going out for a cart ride, turning a corner, and, wow, in your face bouques of asters! They are often in clumps with different types of goldenrod as well. I could never put toghther arrangements as pretty as Ma Nature does.
I don't water them, weed around them, prune them, deadhead them - just let them do their thing and enjoy them! ( I do occasionally pick some to have inside - but they don't seem to mind!). I wish I could get more of the natural growth here, but between the limestone soil, and the shade from a gazillion trees, things don't always work out for me. Ah well, I do enjoy the carefree ones I do have.
