This is my first post here...just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for good "pre-made" winter plant protectors for marginally hardy plants. I'm in Washington state, Zone 8a, and have recently planted a small Dicksonia antarctica tree fern and an Abutilon thompsonii flowering maple. I had hoped to buy "Zoneup" plant protectors for them from Gardeners' Supply, but when I went to order a couple at their Web site a couple of weeks ago, it turned out they're no longer available! (A call to GS's 800 number suggests that they may have them back in stock next season, but that'll be too late.) I've searched the Internet for other sources for the Zoneups, but haven't found any -- I can't even find them on Ebay. The only similar products I've come across are the Wall-o-water, although that doesn't seem like it would be quite as effective all winter long, and the "Aqua Dome," but I'm having similar trouble locating those for sale on the Internet.
Before I go out and search the garden centers for any of those, I was hoping someone might be able to give me some experienced advice about how well any or all of the above products work, as well as maybe where I could find them online. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Dave
