Hi:
I have a single japanese maple. Now, will tell you, I truely know nothing about these little trees.
This particular tree (I have forgotten the name) has been in the garden for 4 years. Was lucky enough to find it at a 75% off sale and it was still VERY VERY expensive. It's green leaved, actually chartreuse in the spring (which is why I bought it). The inflorescence is coral, and the leaves often have an early coral colorating to them too. The new branches stay green all winter, and in some years it will color yellow in the fall, however, if we have a particularly warm, dry fall the leaves don't color well.
Was told it will ultimately grow to 10' and it's grown faster than I expected. The canopy is like an open umbrella, open and arching slightly. The tree takes to selective pruning very nicely.
Now, this is the first year I was able to collect seed, so I have two packages of seed I can give to anyone who might like to try to see what comes up.
Please d-mail if you are interested,
