We almost took over the Uh, Drdon thread with our community lust for power tools so it was suggested that we start another discussion. Since joining DG I've discovered that I am not alone in the world of womanhood with my lust after good powertools, not to mention my cement lust. Since all the women I know here look at me with frank admiration and not a little fear as I wield the power saw, it's been very lonely for me. These are women who don't know a jigsaw from a chainsaw and have never met a drillbit they liked. I have been alone. Very alone. There's nothing like going to Home Depot to look at table saws and having the guy working in the tool crib look at you like you must have a screw loose. I must come here to cleanse myself of these experiences.

I'll start us off: I have a Makita compound miter saw, with laser site, on a stand in my garage. This willing little saw cuts like a hot knife through butter. The stand was a Christmas gift from my DH last year. Since I put up my own molding around here, plus lots of other stuff, this saw gets lots of use. It replaces our previous Makita compound miter saw that was about 12 years old and a good workhorse, but so darn heavy that I could barely lift it. When the safety shield on that one broke, my DH said 'no more' and bought me a new one! What a guy!
