I have storm windows in aluminum frames. They are held in place by small clips on the window frame. Many of the screw holes, holding these clips are now too large and the clips don't hold the storm in place very well. My question is this. Should I fill the current holes with wood putty, wait for it to cure and put the clip back on? Or should I fill the holes then drill new holes for the screws?

I am putting removable clear sealer around the window to help seal them. But I'm afraid without the clips holding on tightly the seal won't be as good.
