Hi kennedyh, nice plant, 15 years to flower? That's a long time! I have a seed grown one that's 4 years old now and I was under the impression they can flower from that age, it is getting to be a good size. Have you come across anyone that has one flower at a younger age?

I will be very disappointed if i have to wait that long!

Thanks,

Janet

I believe they usually flower much sooner than mine did. I was wondering if mine didn't like the position it was in and seeing that it had divided into two distinct shoots, I had decided to try splitting it and hope that moving half of it might accelerate flowering. I had decided all that early this spring and when I next looked at the plant I realised that its first flower shoot was developing. It must have read my mind and was telling me not to move it!!!
Read all the comments in the PlantFiles entry http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/619/index.html
The general impression is that it flowers quite quickly. Baa specifically states
Quoted:
Sow seed at 65-70F, germination may be erratic. Expect to wait at least 3-4 years for the first flowers.

Thanks Ken, keep my fingers crossed! I have read that also, but sometimes you like to know of the actual event happening! In this climate I suppose I might be lucky if it flowers this year, it has grown well and I have seen smallish plants in flower, this is mine
