Wow, can you believe that we are still open? Never this late in our small town. Next week will be our last Saturday in Brandenburg. Not because we don't have the wares, but because it is coming up to holidays and I get quite busy doing other things.
We had wonderful siberian kale, red russian kale, broccoli, beets with greens, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, acorn squash, spaghetti squash, apples, pears...
Eggs, beef, pork, chicken. We picked up two pigs we had processed and sold most of them today. Have lots of pork patties, Ralph had some and they are delicious. We also had pork shoulder roasts, butterfly chops, spare ribs, baby back ribs, beef patties, sausage, T bones, top sirloin steak, sirloin tip steak, short ribs, oh my...I could go on and on. There is nothing like raising your own meat.
We recently acquired 3 Katahdin sheep (they don't have to be sheared) and 4 Tennessee Fainting Goats. (you chase them and yell boo and they fall over like they've fainted, their legs go in the air). They get right back up, but it is hilarious to see them. I think we are going to have kids soon, as two of them are pregnant.
But anyhow, our temps were over 70 today at the market; windy, very windy, so no EZ UP today. My fellow "farmers" didn't show up today, so I did it alone. Did pretty well though.
Told people that next week will be my last week this season and they said they didn't want to see me go. :(
Anyone else have a market still going on?
:) Kathy
