This is something new I bought recently. It is the most wonderful makeup on earth!!!!!! I'm totally amazed and thrilled to death to finally find a lightweight sheer makeup that doesn't feel like you are wearing a mask. It's a loose powder that covers beautifully, doesn't rub off easily and you only need just a teeny tiny little bit. You gotta try it!

"Secret Ingredients
Made from pure, crushed minerals, i.d. bareMinerals is one of the most natural and effective makeup collections around (read: they won’t clog your pores or irritate your skin). Women with skin conditions, such as sun spots, acne, and rosacea, as well as those with dry, oily, and sensitive complexions, claim i.d. bareMinerals has improved the overall health and appearance of their skin. But these wonder-powders do more than just make you look pretty, they also contain natural sunscreens that protect your skin from the sun. So much so that i.d. bareMinerals Foundation is actually recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation. The proof is in the powder. "

I have always wanted to try this stuff. I used a oil-free foundation from Bonne Bell for years. It was the only thing I ever found that had the perfect color and didn't make me feel gooey, then they stopped making it! I got it online for a while from the warehouse but now it's all gone. I have been using Origins and it's ok but sometimes is too much in the summer. I end up just using a darker powder in the summer instead. I saw that Ulta is now carrying this stuff so I might have to give it a try this summer.

So did you order it or buy it at a store? Did you get one shade or does it always come with 2 to mix? Is your skin normally oily or dry or both?

Doesn't it just irritate you to death when you find something you love and they stop making it?

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P61003&catego...

It does not come with the makeup brush. Their brush costs 22.00 for something you can find for a few dollars just about anywhere. The actual powder costs $25 but you would be amazed at how little you need to use. One jar will last me a very long time.
They have 12 different shades. I originally ordered the first tan on the list but it was a tad to dark for this time of year. So I ordered again and got the beige just above it. That works great for me for now. You can return whatever shade you don't like and replace it with another if you need to but I like having both the winter and summer colors.
If you order a certain dollar amount you do not pay for shipping plus you can get free samples of other different goodies.

My skin is combination oily and dry.

I love the Bare Minerals Foundation from Bare Escentuals also...
Can't remember what I paid for it, but got it from QVC. It came as a special with the brush. I bought medium beige with SPF 15 sunscreen.

The other thing I absolutely love is the small jar of bisque. It came with a small flat brush and is excellent for covering a blemish or spots.

I still use my Clinique liquid foundation occasionally, but I always put it on with water so it will be more sheer.

I do the water thing too! If I just put on straight foundation I feel like I'm wearing a mask. I know you can see the flaws in my skin better but I'd rather have that than look or feel caked on. eeewww!

My skin is oily and dry too, especially now that we have no humidity here! My Origins is almost gone but it should last me a good while since I don't use much and most of the time I use a wet sponge to apply it. I'll try this next for sure.

Okay ya'll tell me what I'm doing wrong. I ordered the bare minerals makeup and so far I'm either using it wrong or it just doesn't give me much cover. Or maybe what I ordered is too light. I have med. skin tone with a few brown spots on my face. So far the minerals aren't doing a very good job of covering. Do you use a moisturizer before you apply the minerals? I haven't been. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Since I have been using mineral make-up, my skin has really improved. I have less redness, and few breakouts. I use the Pur Minerals brand, a kit I have purchased through our shopping channel in Canada. I have also found some items for good prices on Ebay.

Lin I would recommend you try the next darker shade and maybe use the bisque ginlyn mentioned above. They advertise it as a great concealer and ginlyn is our witness.

Yes you should use some kind of moisturizer. I now use "Hope in a Jar" as my moisturizer. It's good for all skin types. You don't have to use very much. It does not leave a heavy greasy feeling. I truly started seeing great results within 3 days. It really is HOPE in a jar. And just when I was thinking there was no hope for this face! lol! I learned about it on Oprah's favorite things show. She said "once you start using it you will never want to be without it". She was right!

Thanks for those tips! Vee where did you get the moisturizer Hope in a Jar? I would like to order some or buy some. I usually order since I live in a very small rural town.
I will take your advice and get the next darker shade and will also try the bisque. I'll have to just play around with all of it to get the hang of it. I love the feel of it. My skin is very dry. No oiliness at all so a good moisturizer would really help me. I'm not too satisfied with the one I have now.
I went to the colorful sprinkles website and they have so many neat things. ;)

I had to play around with the bare minerals shades too. It is hard to tell from website pictures what is best for us. :) I ordered the bisque a few days ago and I'm going to take a bath in it so it will conceal my whole body! rofl!... vicki

I am so excited!!!! I have been playing around with the bare mineral samples I have and I think I've got the hang of it! *g* My foundation color was too light. I visited the Sephora website and ordered the right color for me and also ordered the moisture cream and eye cream. I'm very anxious to get those. I have a whole list of favorite things I want to get a little at a time. I plan to 'remake myself'. LOL I have always disliked an eyebrow pencil so I played around with some stuff I have and wound up trying a sort of creamy like eyebrow color and it worked! I was so surprised at how well the bisque covered the dark circles I have under my eyes. Also did a good job of covering the purplish color I have on my eyelids. I applied my eyeshadow color on over it and it looked perfect! My skin is very dry so the minerals are perfect for my skin and I don't look 'caked'.
The most amazing thing I found while playing around with the bareminerals was I had actual better luck applying everything with my finger rather than a brush. I have all sizes of brushes but I didn't like the affect I got as well as applying with my fingers. The minerals are so moist and easy to apply and smooth out I didn't have any trouble at all.

I ordered some of these products for my mom and took them to her earlier in the week. I made her wash her face and I played makeup artist on her starting with Hope in a Jar. Wow! Did she look pretty. And in the sun the bare minerals was just as natural looking as it was inside. We're hooked just like you! ... hugs ... v

Funny girl Lin! rofl ! I saw some mini moomoos and size 24x thongs at Walmart that will look great on you!
When I asked my mom the same mini-thong question she told me to mind my own business. She said she would continue to wear her minis and thongs no matter what I thought of her ... and with or without a bare minerals face. What a silly Mommie! :) She always wears pants and I don't think she really has legs.

Good for you Lin that you stopped smoking. :) I'm proud of you!

24X thongs!!!!!! EeeeGad!!! So you think they would look good on me huh! ROFLMAO!!! I'm afraid at that size they would actually lose their affect!!! LOL I'm a little plump but not that plump. LOL
Your Mom sounds a lot like me. *g* She does what she darn well pleases. LOL I wear pants a lot too. I was forced to wear a dress for my grandson's wedding. We searched and searched for just the right one. Finally found it. Oh and by the way...it was not a mini. LOL
I guess I like pants because I'm very short and it's hard to find the right type of dress or skirt. Your Mom may be like me and be short with short legs. sigh I'm always looking for clothes and styles that make me appear taller. Thank goodness both my daughters are much taller than I am. ;)

Thanks Vicki! Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever done. Much much harder than giving birth! LOL

I fell asleep on the couch a few nights ago while watching TV. At about 2am I woke up to a commercial about Philosphy products. Philosophy makes the Hope stuff ... Anyway ... They were offering everything Hope, face, eyes, lips etc in the normal big sizes plus a bottle of Grace fragrance all for $29.99. Wow! The Hope in a Jar alone is a 35.00 value! I just couldn't make myself place a phone call at that time of the morning and now I could kick my butt.

Moonglow Amen! I've had issues with makeup too for longer than I care to think about.
I haven't had even one little pimple since I've began using Bare Minerals almost 2 months ago. The same as you I purposely slept with it on. There is nothing that compares to the purity of BE products!

ps ... for over two years I wondered just how much liquid foundations contribute to wrinkles and sagging skin as we age. Just think of all the tugging and pulling required to blend that stuff. Just think of the abuse to completely remove it. Goodness gracious! I'll just betcha if women used Bare Minerals for their entire life there would be an incredible difference in the way their skin ages.

Honestly, do you end up with powder all over the place? Does anyone wearing contacts wear this? I went back to Ulta again today and looked at it. I had powder all over my hands, but what I didn't like the most was that it did go into every little line. Now granted, my hands are really dry and worse than my face, but I still don't want that happening. The girl helping me said it was messy and that they have a lot of people return it. She said that it doesn't last all day either.

considering i'm pretty new to this, and doesn't have much make-up experience to boot, i find BE fool (me) proof. one only needs little amount of powder, and with the swirl and tap, not messy at all.

it lasts ALL DAY! another great thing about it - - - i have oily skin and i don't find the need to reaaply mineral veil mid-day.

i also wear contacts.

kb, perhaps someone can give you a good demo! not the girl at that place, lol.

Well, that was actually me that got it all over. LOL There wasn't a brush with it so I just used my finger, but it seemed to spread to all of my hand. I'm leary about that second coat of powder too, the veil. Can you wear just the powder without the veil?

Ok...I'm going to have to go back to Ulta, and abandon another thread I started. I was certain I wasn't going to try this and wanted other base ideas, but Vee8ch is so darn excited about this and proud of herself that she followed me over there and confused me again. ;)

I went to the store today with no base on in hopes of maybe the guy there putting some on me, but he wasn't there so I ended up coming home with some base from Exuviance. I like it but think I might need a different color so I'm going back tomorrow to exchange it. Maybe I'll go again with no base and see if I can try the BM. You people just aren't going to let up, are you? lol

I'm back with more questions...

1) Can you use it under your eyes or is it too dry? I have inherited dark circles under my eyes. I'm not talking just a little hint of color, but purple! I must use a concealer but that becomes such a nightmare too, trying to find something to stay on but not cake. I can't wear a liquid concealer with powder foundation.

2) Do you all wear a moisturizer or something under the BM? The girl today showed me something they sell that she said keeps the powder from settling in lines. I forget the name but it had the same feel as some stuff I sampled from Origins. It felt like it just sat on top of your skin. The problem for me is that this price tag is getting a lot higher than just a liquid foundation.

Ok...off to sleep and hopefully not dream about this!

Every female should wear a moisturizer of some kind for their entire life. So says my Mom :). At 67 she has very pretty skin and she does not look her age. Even though she gave me that advice I didn't listen to her. I hated moisturizers for my whole life until I tried Hope. The others either felt greasy, or made me break out, or made my skin itch and they managed to run into my extremely sensitive eyes and irritate them by the end of the day. Hope was my dream come true. Now I'm trying to be a good girl and get in the habit of using Hope. I really do love the way it began to minimize the fine lines almost immediately. I got my BM before I got the Hope. I originally used BM with no moisturizer and I was thrilled with the results. Now I use Hope under my BM always because both have been so good for my skin. Mom even switched to Hope.

I love mineral veil on top of the BM foundation because it gives your face a soft airbrushed look that is hard to describe and it absorbs oils in areas that tend to be more oily.
My mom uses the BM multitasking minerals as a concealer for a couple of age spots on her forehead. They are very very dark, almost black and don't completely disappear but they are not nearly as noticeable as they were without it. I bought some of that for myself in anticipation of future pimples but I'm thrilled to report that I haven't had one to hide yet. Because neither BM or Hope causes me to break out. lol!

I use BM products on every inch of my face including the eye area. No problems with powder in the eyes because it takes so little. None of the BM powders have settled in lines of any kind on my skin or mom's skin. It is like the stuff just melts into your skin and becomes a part of it.

If anyone can find a liquid that has all of these positive attributes then I'll be the first to say go for it! But I'll just betcha you'll be buying more liquid before I'll need to buy more BM. BM and Hope may not be for everyone but it is heavensent to me.

OK :) I'm off the BE bandwagon now. I really do sound a salesperson for Hope and BM. They don't pay me enough! :) I need to get a life! rofl!

Thanks for all the help and info V8. Now you need to take all your enthusiasm and try that Arbonne stuff and maybe you could sell it! lol

I do use a sunscreen/moisturizer by Neutrogena. I really like it because it's not thick and has never broken my face out. It has retinol in it too, which is supposed to help reduce fine lines. I was more wondering if you used one of these serums that go under the makeup. They feel like they sink in but are leaving a sort of layer on top.

Still debating today...and probably tomorrow...lol

KKBlonde you won't know for sure you like the BE until you've tried it. You could try some samples first. That's what I did. And I played around with it for a while until I got the feel for how it works. I do use a light moisturizer (Hope) under my BE minerals.

At first I was not impressed at all. I had to find out how much to use and what to use for certain problem areas. I also have dark circles under my eyes and my eye lids and inner corners of my eyes are dark (purple) too. I finally learned how to use the bisque for those areas and it worked great for me. I have since bought the eye rev-er-upper for my eyes. I have some brown sun spots too around my forehead and the bisque works great for that too.

Samples would be a good thing because I'm just not wanting to spend the money yet. I am still liking this Exuviance foundation. It covers and lasts all day without being greasy. When the heat and humidity go up that's when it will be difficult for me to wear anything.

I received the starter kit, but, sent it back. The color was too dark and it looked like i had a mask on . Will try with a lighter color, but this time will only order the powder and maybe the clear veil not the whole kit.

I do have to admit that I have never worn makeup nor foundation, so do not know how to apply it. That could be part of my problem here.

Just wanted to add my two cents worth...started using BE several months ago and really like it. I never liked a heavy foundation, my skin breaks out easily if it's not oil free, and my skin gets dry on the surface during winter months making it impossible to get a smooth finish. This takes care of all of these problems. I do use a moisturizer whether wearing makeup or not, and I use the bisque as an undereye concealer. Was very surprised that it didn't look dry and powdery. I give it an A+!
