We bought a real fixer upper in 1997. This is the result of our efforts for the 1st day in the new house.
The guest bath had dryrot and was not well layed out. Click the image for an enlarged view.

We added a new master bath, 12' by 20', with a 12' by 8' master closet.
We used an inexpensive software - Broderbund, 3D Home Architect to lay out the whole project. Here is the software view of one end of the new bath. Click the image for an enlarged view.

Here is a "real" view of the finished project. The shower is behind the wall with the "stained glass" quilt on it. The water heater for this room is behind the commode. The floor is ceramic tile with radiant heating provided by the water heater. Click the image for an enlarged view.

The other end has custom cabinetry for bath needs and a unit for clothing, towels, jewelry, etc. The walk in bath is through the door. The medicine cabinet is all wood and extra deep. It sticks into the closet, and has an electical outlet in it for rechargeables, like toothbrush & razor. Click the image for an enlarged view.

There is nothing scarier than seeing your full nude body after a shower, so my wife opted to for lots of small mirrors to lessen the shock.
Under the front lip of the L shaped cabinetry, there is rope light. It simply plugs into a dimmer controlled outlet behind one of the drawers and makes for a wonderful nightlight. Click the image for an enlarged view.

Very, Very impressive.
All nice earth tones but still enough color to give it punch.
Lots of nice detail, too.
Well done!

PotemUp, that is truly a beautiful, functional room. I went to Singapore once and stayed with my Singapore friend. The one biggest thing I came home wanting was her shower, which was at the end of the bathroom, and had no door or closed-in floor. When you took your shower, the water just rolled into the drain. I loved it, and have always wanted one! Your shower is great for a handicapped person who has trouble getting in and out of the bathtub. GOOD JOB! |

I realize this discussion is a little old, but I was wondering if the software you mentioned worked well when you designed your closet. I am looking for some inexpensive closet design software. Thanks. julia |

You might try searching online like [HYPERLINK@www.easyclosets.com] The software I used did not really do layout for a closet, but I think you can find what you want online, or just go to HomeDepot or Lowe's and they can lay it out for you. |
