I'm trying stained glass mosaics without grout!

Hillsburgh, ON(Zone 5a)

And I think I like it. Grouting is so messy. Got myself a new Inland WizCG grinder to smooth out the glass. This is one of my projects.

Ooops, your photo is too small , try re-sizing the picture.

Sorry, that picture was probably cropped to death! Let's try another one.

This is another name sign I did. Having the background painted a matching or contrasting colour allows me to get away with not grouting. Laurel

Laurel Those are great!!! I have always wanted to try both mosaics and stained glass so I was really excited to come back and find this forum!!

I will be watching all of you very talented people closely trying to get as much info as possible!!!!

I'm curious, I see grout joints and some kind of material between the tiles. Please tell us what you are using in place of grout in the grout joints. Your work is lovely and very colorful. Just please don't kill us with curiosity...lol.

Pretty sign Laurel , well done .

Why not grout ?
Working all those glass edges sound so labor intensive ( to me) .
Do you get a different effect by not grouting ?

ps, love your garden collage ;-D

Wow - so pretty.

I'm with don, put us out of our misery and tell us how you do it instead??

I want to know too!

Ok, I'll put you out of your misery. DH prepped the board for me, you know, sanding, painting, etc. Then all I did was make my design, cut and polish the glass and glue it down (with clear GE Silicon II). There is nothing in the joints but the background paint.

Why not grout? Because I find it so messy, and never could figure out how to do the edging to look nice, so decided not to try. I like the effect I'm getting, so I'll keep doing it until I don't like it anymore.

Glad you all like them. Thanks for the nice comments.

some where on here were bowling balls, I wanted to add picture's of mine, from start to finish! I've been doing mosaics for awhile now, since 2009, and was doing terracotta pots, picture frames, and stepping stone's. Than I saw some people doing BB so I decided to give it a try, and I love this one. My first, but not the last! I get a lot of my ideas, from DG, and love what everyone is posting, and doing! Creativity is so much fun, and when you get idea's from others, it just broadens the imagination! Thanks everyone! Beautiful mosaics!
