Good idea, Cheryl! Thanks! ;-)

I defrosted some hamburger in it tonight and I was amazed! I know that might sound strange, but in our old microwave (13 years old) I would have had it in there for 10 minutes and it would have been half frozen and half cooked to a rubbery consistency. With the new one I just pressed rapid defrost and it was thawed out almost to the very center and not cooked one bit! I couldn't believe it! :-D (Gee, sounds like I need to get out more, huh? LOL)

It's really lovely Mendy, Enjoy it. As far as bacon, I do trays of it in the oven, stick it in the freezer and then pop it in the microwave. None of that messy bacon grease on the top of my stove, thank you! But I know what you mean.

When you have a tiny kitchen with limited counter space like we do, it is very nice to have the microwave up off the counter. We have enjoyed our microwave very much since putting it in.

yes true limited space is a prob same here mgh (galley kitchen yik) my micro is on the bench (counter) but its a squeeze.. saw some lovely kitchens recently with a cubby hole in the cupboards for the
microwave...its nice yr enjoying it though mgh. I think small kitchens far more
appealing if they look pretty than these big yikky impersonal restaurant type kitchens...its just in mine its like 50 yrs old and horrible. If the men in my
family dont do something by their Christmas hols I swear Im going in with
a sledgehammer and knocking out old cupboards grrr.

mgh, my DFW has been eyeing these for a while...I haven't looked at them yet, so I'll ask you, does it use the same wiring as the fan did, does it have a fan, and can you still put a big pot of spaghetti on the stove, no problem?

suzi_downunder, you can expand your kitchen with that sledgehammer, too! lol

I am looking for a sledgehammer by golly ...
bit scared might let in big spiders as live close to the bush...
but Im working on it ...yes a sledgehammer can do so much.
Havent touched one of the top cupboards for about 6 yrs as when
I opened it one day a giant spider like 6 inches across was on the inside door
omg ...Im scared witless Ill empty a can of spray in there and run.
I think if a comet hits the place would be great but not holding my breath
in this lifetime waaaah.

Claypa, yes, we used the same wiring from the fan. We had to put in a new vent tube though because the old one wasn't the right size for the micro. The new micro does have a fan with 5 different speeds...I REALLY like that feature. It also has a light that I use all the time now while I cook as we have poor lighting in our kitchen. Yes, I can put a pretty good sized pot on the stove under the micro without any problems. There is approx. 15¼" from the top of the big, back burner to the bottom of the micro. We have low ceilings (7 - 7½ ft.) so I don't know if this would be standard...are cupboards usually installed at a standard height?

Suzi, if I saw a spider that big in one of my cupboards I don't think I could ever go in my kitchen again!! YIKES!!

Thanks for your answers... F for future, dear future wife.
Countertops are usually 36" off the floor, and cabinets are usually 18" above that. Mine are 17" above the counter. Almost all ranges and hoods are 30" wide, and usually a 12" high space is left in the cabinets for the hood.
Never mind the remodeling, use that sledgehammer on those spiders!

hahahah nah i just refuse to open that top cupboard and will ask sons
to go spray in there soon before we smash it out ...yeah one of the
pitfalls of living near the bush...being paranoid about spiders makes life tough for me not a day goes by dont think of them ...son recently saw one as big as a mouse run inside I was screaming
on the furniture didnt even look ...husband said he put it outside but oh hope he did. Actually what does DH mean (dear husband?)? I am unsure of these terms hahahaa. Sorry I digress.
