Spam on the internet is usually bad, but in this case, ROTFLMAO. I suggest, instead of making Hawaiian Spam soup, that we all pack our 3 personalities and meet in Hawaii. we can make a game of guessing who's who 3 times.
Ah, pirl, that's a tough one. I've always wanted to be able to sing. But I can't think of a singer I would want to be. How about Janice Streisand, Barbra's sister with the voice minus the attitude and personality?
I'll have to think some more about others. how about you, pirl? everybody else?
I want to be Eva Cassidy and be able to sing Somwhere over the Rainbow like her. She also sang "Autumn Leaves" and " Fields of Gold" but my favorite is "People Get Ready" a very spiritual song she sang after she found out she was dying. Also love "What a Wonderful World" a Louie Armstrong song.
If you never heard of her it's because she died in her early 30's due to cancer. I never heard about her until after she died, so sad as she had an amazing voice. Here's the link to listen to her if you'd like:
I knew the Snow would make people Nuts...I Would be happy to recommend a nice Sunny Place to over Winter for those of you that aren't life time'ers.(I'm not sure if Sun and Fun will reverse the effects)...
I'm gonna' go an' hang back round them sunny folks before this here snow nuts rub off..
(sorry to jump into Ya'lls Thread it did look like so much fun.
Get Well Soon EVERYONE.
Well if it makes a difference,My dad and his whole Family are all from N.Y scattered all over.(and a really big Never to be told again, and I will never own up to telling I was Born in Sodus,N.Y spent 2 whole weeks there...) .Hmmm Might explain why I was Drawn to this thread.
Victor, told you we missed you ;0) hhmmmm...not human...an elephant! I'm always asking if we can get a baby elephant and DH always says no pets (dang!). they don't grow very fast and they live a long time with good care. they can help with the heavy work. definitely an elephant.
Georgia, it's not snow nuts...it's called Cabin Fever but it's not catchy, honest. Unless of course you live in a place that has snow, then it's just the "norm" and everyone has a bad case of it around Jan. The good news is it goes away right around this time of the year. Although I must admit, some of us on this thread seem to be having a hard time to get rid of it this year. I would guess it has a lot to do with the Easter Storm we had. Pretty soon it will be a new bug going round...it's called "Sunburned Brain" and it only happens to the ones who get "Cabin Fever", so your safe! But don't run away...we know you southerners have flowers in bloom and we don't...thats part of why we get cabin fever. So SHARE WITH US all your lovely blooms!!!!!!!!!
Have you all quit work to keep this thread lively?
Hi GA! Pheadra is a great name.
Schicken, I loved the Spam can and the cure is kicking in. Is it too late to ask about the side effects?
I know Karen Carpenter, she grew up in New Haven, but who is Sofonisba? And Artemisia Gentileschi?
I would like to be Atticus Finch. The Dad in To Kill A Mockingbird. He is a favorite. And Dumbledore. Do I have to be Dave? He's too sick!
Dave, Sofonisba Anguissola and Artemesia Gentileschi were painters from the italian renaissance. Nobody knows about them because they were women. Cool! You knew Karen Carpenter. Poor woman. I feel for her life.
Victor - there's no shame in wanting Catherine Zeta-Jones. She is gorgeous and talented. Did you see her in Chicago? WOW!!
Man, I invent characters for me to play in all my favourite books - for Harry Potter, I am Sarah Finn - because that is what she is a seraphim - an angel of the highest order, the embodiment of pure joy. Ah . . . well, that could be my third personality, not exactly an alter ego . . .
Everyone seems to want to have personalities of already existing people or characters. Am I the only one inventing mine?
Seandor, We are pretty sure you invented Seandor!
Michael Douglas' wife is nice but if this is fantasy, I'll take Brad Pitt's significant other.
Victor: Attica! Attica! Attica! And you're a New Yorker!
Must look up those artists Haror. I always wondered about your DG name.
I'm off to a 15 hour work day today. Just your typical government employee. You should see what I do when I'm not sick!
Jolie is sexy but very strange. I'd be afraid she would cut me or I'd wake up with some freaky tattoo on my a**. Then again, it might be worth it. I did see Catherine in Chicago - she was fantastic. And yes, I would rather see her a few inches away. A made-up personality? Some time traveler - my name would be Anachronos. Fitting, since I grew up in a Greek neighborhood.
I saw CZJ in my office a few years back when she was pregnant. She was carpet shopping. I remember her bending down to feel the rug on display, slipped and fell on her bum. She was a very graceful faller.
Seandor, I'm ashamed that I'm not using my creative energies to think up of a fantastic personality (or three) for myself. My only excuse is that I'm in a mad rush these past few days to finish a rug I'm working on. See me working hard? Ha!
Poor Dave. We forgot all about him. How are you feeling today Dave? Don't work to hard. You need to save your strength.
I have a bunch on my old computer, but nothing on the new one. Sorry! Oh wait. There's one.
Most of the rugs I do are custom. Sometimes I have a lot of design input, sometimes none. This one, they showed me an existing rug and asked me to make changes to adjust for size and color. Oh, and I had to change the center letter to a B. I drew the whole thing, but the original design is not one of mine. It's all I have to show.
Ok, I confess. I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't read or seen Harry Potter. But, I do know about Brangelina--can't avoid them if you shop at supermarkets.
I saw some Gentileschi paintings (father's and daughter's) at the Metropolitan Museum a year or so ago (I lose track of time). I liked them--I love Renassaince paintings--all those beautiful, rich colors. Your job designing carpets sounds really nice, too.
Victor, did you ask her to keep doing it until she got it right?
I love the movies but haven't read the books to my 2 DGD's dismay. Now that I'm retiring I will have to get back to reading. I used to devour books the way the DGD's and my DS does, but somehow I got away from reading. I'd like to blame it one the computer, but I used to do both.
Harper, what a wonderful career! there are so many things to do with artistic talent that one never would think of. When you can post some of your own designs I would love to see them.
I'd rather be certifiably nuts than sane. Nuts is much better.
Thanks Pirl for speaking up about not liking Harry Potter. Dave, MY Harry and I get along quite well. I have a life size skeleton named Harry. He's great company. A laugh a minute. How are you feeling this morning? Any better?
Sure Gram! When I find the time to get some art off my old computer, I'll post something.
I take it you've been in the garden, pirl?? I went hiking with my group. Was a tough hike and was too hot / humid. Had intended to plant the gazillion annuals that arrived yesterday but all I could do was unpack them. To rub salt, a huge perennial / shrub order arrived today!
Victor, It looked like you were getting some thunderstorms today...my family all lives in Berkshire County, MA (Pittsfield, North Adams, Hinsdale, Becket) and I know they were about to get hammered. Of course it was 89 here today and I did just get done planting a lot of tomatoes :)
And my somewhere over the rainbow is a little town called Andyville, Kentucky.
Getting the plants in before the storm that's coming our way, hits us.
I love this thread...makes me feel like I'm home. Seandor, you're not far from my home...
No, not too much. Just a few. Actually I was never into pretend play as a kid. Now as an adult...Hee hee. Speaking of the beauties of the past, I like Claudia Cardinale, Sophia, Natalie Wood, Ava Gardner, Linda Darnell, Barbara Stanwyck, Maureen O'Hara, Rita Hayworth. There are more I'm not remembering.
actually pirl, wouldn't it have been POUS MAPS? Put it that way, it sounds oriental... And why is it that I loved Spam as a child and can't even look at the can now? Perhaps I didn't know what was REALLY in it then, nor did I care!
I always wanted to be Heidi...and ironically, I now live with an old goat and several "newer" ones. ha ,ha...
Don't blame this on me! I'm trying to understand people's posts. Backward or foward, Pirl can spell. However, she appears to be into foursomes (her, Marilyn, Elvis and Jimmy Dean (We can only hope she meant James).
Victor is attracted to octagenarians (not that there is anything wrong with that).
Schicken is dyslexic, and somewhere over the rainbow there are Misty Meadows that are into goats.
I only hope that Anita can twitch her nose or bob her head and make everything normal.
and then there was Cary Grant - I had every movie he made on VHS tape. I have since sold them on ebay. I could watch him over and over again. There is a movie out now called "Are We Done Yet", which is a remake of Mr Blanding's builds his Dream House...I'm still trying to see the correlation!
you know, I've never been that taken with any of the movie stars (male or female). guess I go for real people...I'm not the fantasy type. I had a dream once about Lloyd Bridges (blah) If I'm going to dream about a celebrity, I do wish I had better taste.
Yes, I agree about Claudette and Liz. As I said, there were certainly more I forgot. Brigitte Bardot is another. I am a big Cary Grant fan. Much better actor than given credit for. Ever see 'People Will Talk'?
Lloyd Bridges? oh my!!! I used to dream about Dr. Kildare or Ben Casey, MD. They were both quite handsome in my formative years. I thought for sure I was going to marry a doctor. And if I had, I could've had him check out Dave to see what ails him.
Doug, I think we've got to stop talking about you being sick. As long as this is a fantasy thread, let's go with the pous cure working. Ta da! Forget Dr Killdeer. I pronounce you well. And I do officially work in a hospital until 5/23. [ I am a professional...so do not attempt this at home.] ~wish I knew how to put that in teeny, tiny print
The guy I meant was on an old, early 80's, nightime big show (I never saw even one episode but it was all the talk at the bank lunchroom), with Linda Evans as the co-star. Not Larry Hagman.
As for Dave...he's not cured, Gram, he's given us our own talk thread while we pray for his health. Even if he were in perfect health he should at least fake it for us after all we've done to cheer him up!
