Here is a Jelly Palm in San Diego with a Moreton Bay fig and a Staghorn fern growing out of the trunk.

Butias are great palms to grow other things out of... but I fear the Morten Bay Fig may end up being a bit much for it eventually.

You are right about the Moreton Bay fig getting, I am sure you know where I took the photo. Balboa Park(palm canyon) Right next to two giant Moreton Bay Figs, my favorites besides the one at Santa Barbara.
