My cryptanthus collection

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I am usually on the african violet board but thought I would pop in here since I love cryptanthus!
Here is a collection of ones I have so far.
I have babies from the red one in the middle and the black and silver one on the site just pupped out :)

Lovely, Chris. I especially like the light gray colored one with its hints of lavender and splashes of yellow/gold. Very unusual.

Actually Shirley..I have a few pups of that variety *though the yellow was sunburn :(*
I would be happy to share them in the spring

Chris,

I'd love one. : )

Hi there, you two!

Nice collection, Chris_Lorry!

I had a few in the past....I'm down to *one*! lol!! (I think I should keep it that way!)

I think I was keeping them too wet indoors.....they do really well for me outdoors in the summer!

I used to see these for sale quite often around here....but none lately.
Did you find all yours nearby?

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I got many of them on ebay..though I do see some of them here pretty regularly :)

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

I had bought a couple on ebay too.....one I *had to have* (and subsequently killed!) was 'Black Magic'!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Hmm...Might be the one I have which was labeled black mystic.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

B. magic and B. mystic are two different plants.
Both gorgeous!

Look what I found:

I'd better stop talking about and looking at these or I'm gonna want some more, lol!!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

LoL
You are too funny Nan :)

Mandeville, LA(Zone 9a)

What have you got them planted in? It looks like a big pot saucer. I've been looking for something to put all of mine in and was wondering if a really large saucer would be deep enough? I've recently gotten hooked on these and so far they're doing well.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

It is a low pot that is round that I found at our local nursery..a deep saucer should be deep enough though :)

I noticed your name and thought I needed to share my newest nematanthus with ya :)

I saw that on the identification forum. I didn't realize it was yours. It looks really big. A prize for sure! I think it may be Apres because of the red marking on the bottom of the leaves. I've never heard of Champagne but I'm not an expert...just an addict! Where did you get it?

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I am a reseller..I picked it up at Harmony's greenhouse which is a wholesale place where I get African Violets.
I just had to have it.
I think it is actually spotlight

Mandeville, LA(Zone 9a)

It's really great. I'd love to see a pic when it blooms. Gee, I just may have to get that one!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I have never seen it before. I got it at my wholesale nursery.
It has a few blooms on it now. I will definitely post shots once it blooms

That's a lot of color on the underside of the leaves. More than my Apres. Please do send pics when it blooms! I'm obsessed. I need a life.....................

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh it has tons of color and it is a very vibrant red color. The leaves are the size of my hand.
I was really smitten with it right away.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

OMGosh, Lorry!!

I've seen plants with leaves with the red 'splotches' underneath, but the leaves were about the size of a pinky-fingernail!!

So those leaves *are* as big as they look?!?!

(You have *got* to stop torturing me with such photos.....;)

Just kiddin'.....keep 'em coming!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL they are as big as they look...they are about the size of my hand. I will take a photo against my hand to give you an idea :)

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Is it a mutant?!?! lol!!

Pssstt....you could go get some more and 'resell' them to us!!

LOL..I can't sell to you guys! This is not the forum for selling :) But Chris may be going up in a couple of weeks. He has to pick his dad up at the airport...and he offered to make a trip to my supplier. I don't go up very frequently though since they are only open during the week and I work week days.
It is a vicious cycle (laugh) But I have had so many people ask about this. I may have him pick up a couple more :)

I talked to the vendor and she said she is SURE it is Champagne. She showed me the one at her house and I just about died! It is twice the size of this plant :) I was totally in LOVE.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Oh, Lorry, I was just kiddin' with you:)

Though I love the plant, I wouldn't really expect you to go and get me one!

Sorry you're being inundated with requests.....it's those irresistible photos you take of the great plants you find!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

LOL..I plan on having Chris pick some up when he heads up there on the 19th..If he makes to to Harmony.
Maybe I will pick up one extra to share with my friends on here

Mandeville, LA(Zone 9a)

Oh gosh, I hate to beg but if he DOES get one............. I can't believe it's that big either!

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Would you be interested in trading some of this one for some Christmas Holly and/or black gold?

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

I also have a variegated one that is really pretty. How about a trade of that and this one for black gold and holly cuttings?

Mandeville, LA(Zone 9a)

It's a deal! Just send me a D-Mail and we'll set it all up. The christmas holly blooms more than any I have ever had. It gets a bloom at every node on every stalk with flowers in clusters.
