How long should I let the adhesive cure before I grout a mosaic piece? I'm using Lexel which is equivalent to Liquid nails as far as drying time.
Please and Thank you :) ... vicki

Guess it depends on what type of mosaic you are speaking of.

Flat direct method projects could probably be done in a day or 2 .

I waited about a week or maybe longer for most objects like my Candle Shelter ...

because it was heavy and just picking up the object could cause minuscule movement of the adhered pieces.

I'm usually in no hurry , haste makes waste ;-)

This is a plant stand that for my sis-n-law from a clear totem that I made that showed the ugly silicone joints.
I want to grout it with either white or yellow. I'll wait a week. I for sure don't want to mess it up. Thank you Scoot :)

Pick your color carefully as it can make some colors of your marbles recede or project.

Hi Vee8ch...really very awesome looking. I bet when the light hits it, it looks really cool. May I ask what you used for the base? From the pic, it looks like clear glass. (sorry but don't know what a clear totem is). BTW, from your pic, I would grout a light gray...that would make all the colors stand out and the grout kinda remain neutral...JMO!

Mangomo in this case a totem is a tower of dishes stacked and glued together. This totem is made of a clear candle stick, a small candle holder, a goblet, a bowl shaped jar and 2 plates. The plates of course are the top and base.

Scoot ... good point about the grout color causing receding or projecting. I had decided to use a pale butter color and even considered chocolate brown but mangomo's gray suggestion is good one.

Edited ... I decided to use gray. Thank you mangomo! :) :) :)

Mangomo you can see other totems in the Trash to Treasure and Garden Art forums. :)
This is my first mosaic. I should have never chosen such a big and curvy piece to start with. SIL might get it in time for Christmas if she is lucky. lol!
Palm Bay is south of Melbourne and about 20-25 mins north of Vero Beach! ... vicki

Some young fella wit a half nekkid babe ridin on back , I think wuz tryin to impress her ( or hisself ) , lol

Stops next to me an pops the throttle a few times as in invite to 'go fer it'

Shame on him pickin on a ol lady.

Well he had nooo idear what a gear head I've been most of my life and off we went.

No contest ! After the few seconds his whuppin took I don't even remember what color his scoot was .

Well that adrenaline rush lasted me for quite a while after that.

btw, da streets were empty , don't know why ,... coulda been the heat ?

Scoot, like your tag line. I have been "mature" all my life, I am thinking about exploring the young immature years, and doing it right this time. Growing up is optional. Yeah, I like that.

Hah,
You should see the strange look when DD saw the Wedding reception I put on for my gnomes Opa and Carola.

She mention something about me playing with dolls again.

*groan* she just doesn't understand that it is my turn to have fun AGAIN ;-)
