AL got tired of me posting so many pictures on one of the forums ( just kidding) that he suggested I start my diary. I told him I would if I only knew HOW !!!! Well, it is under way.

The one thing I can't figure out (well, there is more than one, but for now...) is -- how do you post a comment and picture with, perhaps just the year ?? In other words, I have no idea what day and month. Do I make them up? I couldn't figure out a way to leave off the day/mo and just put year. Is it so simple I am missing it????

Hi Corgi,
I don't think there is a way to leave them off. You can use a year in the tab header to correct or unspecify the year I guess.
Otherwise I didn't look thru yours yet, trying to figure out the question. It looks like you have the layout down.

Very nice Corgi! I love the path layout with the fountain. Gorgeous. Keep posting those pics!

Got a good chuckle out of "bald guy is my DH David" - You have two reasons to keep him, he's cute, and he built you a beautiful garden!

Al, well done strong-arming Corgi into starting a tour! I've been working on getting Tobasco to do one.

HA !!! Yes, I take a good bit of convincing. I'm afraid I never have had much confidence in myself. Only been using computer the last 2 years or so - mostly for email, so EVERYTHING is new to me. The termonology is a foreign language - so what might be 'easy to follow instructions' for someone else is quite a challenge for me, but Al has been real helpful. Thanks folks!!

Corgi,
you know you can have this on a thread with your own name on it - it is about you - not me!
My main concern was you having to upload all those pics twice.
Put them all on there I say.

Noooo..., but I am having fun ! Thanks for getting me started , I just didn't know what to do with all of them.I'm sure I am not the only newbie that needs someone to explain to them how to do the diary.I still have so many questions about all of this, but man you folks here at DG have been so encouraging and helpful that I am almost over my shyness about asking for help.(notice I said 'almost' )

So, here is another question, how can I refer someone to my diary (or is that not considered the thing to do???). Do we just assume people check there if they are interested???

Corgi,
you can do either, most people know that they can look at other member's pages. You could link it also
[HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]
have you been practicing?
corgi is a dog right - do you have 1 or 8?

Corgi - put them all on! The more the merrier.

Re directing people to the diary, I do it all the time. It's especially helpful when you're talking about a specific area in a thread. You can send them to the diary so they can see the whole thing instead of posting one pic that may seem out of context with it's surroundings. Besides the pictures, I have added (and still have a lot to add) in my ramblings in the Diary on plant histories and folklore. You'd be surprised how often I end up in a conversation about where a plant came from, how it got it's name, etc. if it's one that I've posted there, I can just say "have a look" instead of re-typing all that into a thread reply.

Sometimes rather than posting the link, I just tell them to click on my user name and go to my diary from there.

I am not at all computer smart, but I did manage to find your diary.
You did a great job.

sstateham, thanks for that tip about clicking on someone's name. See, that is what I mean about being helpful. I didn't realize you could do that either!!! That is wonderful. I also like the idea about posting family fokelore, etc. You guys are so much fun. I don't get anything done around the house anymore, not that I ever did much anyway ! Gee, what will I do when it is time to get outside and start working in my flowerbeds again??? There are only, lets see, how many hours in a day???

purplepetunia, love your name!!! thanks for your comments. I am not very good with a camera. My hubby is better at picture taking than I am, has a better camera with lenses, etc, but he is not here when I want one made, so gotta do it myself most of the time.

Corgi - do what I did - fire the kid that does yard work and hire a cleaning lady! For $40 every other weeks she comes and does toilets, dusting light fixtures, etc. All I need to do is the basics so I can get outside. Thankfully, Skip does most of the laundry, kitchen cleaning, and grass mowing. Good guy to have around!

Also - get yourself one of the easy digital cameras. There are a lot of them on the market that are really easy to use, and have software packages that make it really simple to upload pictures. I've used both HP and Cannon and the basic cameras take secent shots and are pretty easy to use.

By the way, it's plant folklore I've been working on. My family folklore and stories are too scarey to publish on the internet :)

Hi Corgi,

Great pictures!!!! I have to work on putting mine in too and you've given me the inspiration to try it too. On the Clematis, it takes 3 years before they really "pop" and get huge. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Thanks Megan ! I have lots from this year to put in, but I am afraid all of you will get bored looking at them. It is the only way I have of remembering what blooms from year to year, so it is a great way for ME to remember !! Hope ole Dave doesn't have a limit as to how many I can put in there. Maybe I'd better ask ;-)
