Last year I did an impromptu reno while my husband and son were away for a week. It was a tense time as I don't think he trusted my abilities...but I was dtermined to make the kitchen brighter. We were going to spend money on an addition and there would be no money left for kitchen reno. I never tallied the cost but I think I did it for 2 grand or less. The original kitchen was 1950's, maybe 70's.
