Today the work crew was here and removed the tile from around the bathtub. They removed the bathtub and old faucet.

The new shower pan is in place and the new faucet is installed.

The din was terrible at times and Tommy spent most of the day outside. Nemo came in after they left and inspected the work as though he understood construction.

This is all because it is very difficult for me to get my feet up over the edge of the tub.

After 3 and a half days I was able to take a shower. Everything is great. Life is so much easier when it is not painful to get into the shower. The walls are of a man made marble like material so each wall is a single piece.

Oh cool, really cool. if you can post pictures please do so. ;) Bathrooms need to be useful places, but if they can be beautiful too, so much the better. :)

I doing a bathroom with shower. I love travertine stone and would love to put it on the floors and in the shower. Because this is a natural stone, what are the disadvantages in having natural stone in a high water area.

I would make sure for the floor and the bottom of the shower you use stone with more of a matte finish instead of the really shiny stuff, otherwise it could be slippery. You'll also have to seal them (but you'd have to do that in a low water area too). And travertine is like marble and can be damaged by acidic cleaners...some soap scum remover products fall in this category so particularly in the shower be careful of what you use to clean with (again, this is true regardless of whether it's a high water area). If you want the look with less maintenance, you might consider porcelain or ceramic tile instead. I really like this tile: [HYPERLINK@www.crossvilleinc.com] It gives a very realistic stone look, but you won't have to worry about what cleaners you use or sealing it all the time or any of that.

If you want to see those tiles in person, I've seen them at Expo, I'm not sure if you have those in Houston but since they're owned by Home Depot I imagine they're nationwide.
