If you live in California, you are affected by the new Energy Efficiency Standards which apply to new home construction as well as major remodeling. Below is a link to the page offering the Residential Compliance Manual in PDF format, in whole, or by sections. The section on Lighting highlights significant changes over the previous energy code. I'm glad I don't live there.
