These shrubs are 4 or 5 years old. There are actually 3 in a row behind the dwarf spruce, but the end shrub is a good 3' x 3'. Yes I cut these shrubs back to about 18" high each year. In fact I just cut mine back this weekend. This picture was taken in late June if I remember. They are fast growers and fill out quickly as the temperatures warm up. I also only water this raised bed about once every 7 to 10 days through the growing season.
