Have any of you ever made your own needles? This link tells you how...

My husband and I made these. I think I might knit a cozy for the jar, and just leave them on display. Does anyone know of a pattern that will fit this jar?

Jdee, your needles look great. I made a couple of pairs of large needles. Next I'm going to try to make a circular pair. I got the line off of the weedwacker, now I have to work on the wooden tips.

Elsie, have you made your circular needles yet? I've made a few sets of double points, since this picture was taken, but I've never seen homemade circulars. I'd love to see them when you get them made.

Jennifer, no I haven't made them yet. I'm hoping to make them outside since I think there will be a lot of sanding. I'm behind on everything so I don't know when I will be making them. That's great that you made your own double pointed needles. I have such a hard time with double pointed needles.

I decided to make them, when I took the sock class. Socks are really addictive, aren't they?

When I used them for the first time, I thought I was going to poke myself in the eye, with all these flailing needles, but slowly, I began to get the hang of it, and learned to only consentrate on the two presently in use. That helped a lot.

I've made mittens but I've never made socks. Have you posted a photo of your socks yet? I'd love to see them.

I haven't yet. We've been doing some painting, and my computer cabinet has been out in the middle of the floor, with a sheet thrown over it. lol The few posts I've made have been from DH's lap top, which doesn't fit my picture card. It has a little adaper, but I don't know how to use it. I bearly know how to use mine. lol I'll get some photos posted as soon as I take some.

I just took so pictures. So far, I've made three pairs of socks since I took the class in April. Here is the first pair I made. It has some areas where I didn't pull the thread tight enough where the needles met in the round, but I think they look ok for a first attempt...

Here is the second pair. Still some holes here and there, but I'm pretty proud of them. I decided to make more of an ankle sock. I prefer them that way.

The third and final pair, is my attempt to add a little color. I don't know if you can tell in this picture, but one turned out smaller than the other. lol I guess I still need lots of practice.

I'd so love to make some mittens. I have a book with a pattern for some fingerless ones that I think are so cute. I hope I can eventually make some.

Wow Jennifer, I am impressed. Your socks look great. The color change looks like you've been doing it for years. You need to splurge and get some varigated sock yarn. Some of the new sock yarns make pretty patterns and it's just from the yarn.
