I found this place recently and decided to join, I'm in middle Tn, own 80 ac mountain land, i've always been a stay home worker, done logging, sawmilling, and a lot of odds and ends. Been working toward going commercial with veggies for several years, grew 2 ac summer squash 3 yrs ago and bought a D4 with the proceeds, rebuilt it and used it for some outside dozing, now it's staying home and I'm starting on clearing a little more of our own land. I basicly grew up in a big garden (late 60's-through the 70's) so all the basic stuff is just every day life. I've studied alternative soil fertility and plant growing science for several years, in brief, built on the foundation of the theory of biologic ionization developed by Dr Cary Reams. very interesting stuff. My brother's been working in Lousiana, (storm cleanup) he's coming back in a week or so, planning on buying a refrigerated truck for produce delivery and we're gona go for it. getting several neighbors involved who want to raise veggies and work close to home as well. i want to do high quality lettuce and carrots, like top quality gormet stuff, but right now i'm planting maters and peppers. we're way out in the woods, so wholesale is about the only option, besids i hate sitting somewhere trying to sell something. A brief list of my interests, past and present; steam power, ham radio, alternative fuels and increasing fuel ecominy, (wood gas, hybred electric, fuel processing) horses, (have 6) natural healing, and of course growing good veggies for food. have played with expirmental greenhouses for the last 15 yrs or more, now i almost have a 3000 sq ft production unit ready, will have hot water heated beds. probably won't have it going till fall though, too busy on outside crops. eventually would like to plan for perhaps a quarter acre in greehouse space for winter production.
