I know most maples, but I planted, I think a Norway which is invasive. Any suggestions on how to tell the difference.

By the way, the photo is gorgeous. How often, other than seeing one up close do you see that, at it's perfect timing?

Thank you both for the compliments on the photo.

Alice --
The picture was taken in the wild. This is one of the native trees we have growing here. In the early spring is when you will see the buds start on the trees. I haven't a clue as to how to tell other maples apart ... I don't have any growing in my yard.

One day when I get back to some researching, I will look this up and know what is growing out there in zone 7, in Oregon. I've done some traveling of our good 'ole USA, and still haven't seen any bit of oregon. I'd like to see the metasequoia's, too! Someday soon, I hope.
