So - this Saturday is my first time at market. I've been growing in quantity for several years and selling to a loyal group of regular customers, but this is new territory for me.
I'm guessing it's better to focus on a few strong points rather than take a little bit of a lot of things, but until I know the market, I'm not sure how to make those choices. So this first week I'm taking salad greens, plants, and cut flowers. (It's a producers-only market). I figure once I see what else is being sold there, and what the customers are like, I'll tailor my stuff to fit a little better.
I'd like to think I've thought of everything - packaging, change, business cards, etc - but of course I'm sure I've forgotten something vital. So here's the question for experienced market growers: what didn't you think about the first time you went to market that would have made a difference?
thanks,
katie
