While reading "Palms Won't Grow Here and Other Myths" by David A. Francko tonight, I read a chapter that included a section about a guy named Raymond Sharon here in Wichita, KS that has been growing a commercially available strain of Lousiana Sabal Palm for the last 20 years.

I have never seen these in the nurseries around here. Has anyone else ever heard of these? Supposedly this strain winters very well here and is acclimated to our sometimes harsh summer heat as well.

You might want to dmail Tropicman with this question. He does the tropical garden bit here in town. I know of another one on the west side of town but am not personally acquainted nor is he on Dave's Garden that I am aware of. Welcome to Dave's Garden by the way. :)
