I bought a very small pony tail palm when my oldest daughter was almost 2 yrs old. She graduated from HS last Fri nite and she and the palm are both beautiful! The base of the palm is quite large now and I was wondering if I could carve her name (Arna) and the year I bought the plant ('89) into the base. I was going to use a scalpel and try not to carve too deeply. I don't want to kill the plant after all these years and she'll be leaving for A&M this fall. I thought it would be a good 1st plant for her to take care of. Just bright light and water every now and then! Any advice would be nice!
