This exhibit is now in Dallas at the DMA. Has anyone seen it? Prior to Dallas, it was in Seattle & Toledo and will be in Pittsburgh in October. My sister & I are planning on seeing it this month.

I finally got to see the exhibit. It was inspiring to see his work up close. The exhibit has several lamps (there was an awe inspiring one with dragonflies - it used a beautiful blue glob and lovely purple mottled glass), some of his mosaics (the one that springs to mind now is a narrow column about 4-5 feet tall), about 3 fireplace screens; paintings, jewelry, vases (I could gush about the Favrile glass), and the panels, oh, the panels...

The panels they have in the exhibit are fantastic. There were some noticeable cracks in some, but the craftsmanship was superb. I noticed a couple of interesting things - most of the panels were doubled (it appeared to be done on purpose to provide depth to the piece - like one that was of the sea - you could see different textures thru the glass, like the top layer would be rippled and the bottom would be mottled); he also made use of globs, sea glass (even faceting it in some cases). Oh, and the globs - he must have had them created for his projects. Some were in paisley shapes or long ovals.

I'm heading back next month to take another look. Here's the exact dragonfly lamp that is on exhibit. http://www.artdaily.com/imagenes/2005/10/13/6543.jpg

scooter, there's absolutely no way I could. The docents were everywhere (and I mean everywhere. I thought they were following us around. I guess they thought my kids were a risk, like I would let my brats touch the artwork. They do stupid stuff, they are teenagers :), but are well behaved when we go to museums or the theater.)

I even thought about whipping out my camera phone, lol!
