can anyone tell me what these brown specks are on my ferns? i do not know what kind of ferns they are but they come back every year. they are in one of my flower beds. the brown spots are on the underside of the leaves. they don't looked diseased but i do not know, can anyone tell me? should i be concerned?

No, that is normal. All ferns have them, I think they are where the spores will be made, but I'm not sure.

One of our fern experts on here can tell you for sure.

I know it is nothing to worry about though.

Those are the sori which hold the spores. All ferns have them.
