Daryl I think his publication and supplier are wrong. I also purchased a Freckles and mine is the same color as Candy's (Happenstances).

| Oh yes. Another heartbreaker. :'(
I also saw your post above and did a search...I do see where some call the one you have Freckles as well?!? I wonder who the original hybridizer is? It sure would be nice to go to the source.
Also In the PlantFiles link above someone said 'Splash' has similar markings to the one you posted. |

| Hi Lilypon solved!!! 'Freckles' clone #2 lance leaf coleus solenostemon scutellarioides.
Green leaves spotted and splashed mahogany red, will become yellow with orange marks when exposed to the sun.In the summer heat the yellow will turn to white. In summer expose to full sun and hot location.
Tada ! They are one and the same very interesting is'nt nature wonderful!!

| Shaking my head here...truly AMAZING!!!
To do a hyperlink first click on the right side of your mouse, while the pointer is on the address bar, and then do a left mouse click. A menu will open up and at this point click on *cut* (or *copy*). Then go to the reply box you want to enter it into and click so that the typing bar is flashing. Now do a left click on your mouse and click on *paste* (Dave's system will take care of the rest after you click on Preview or Send).

| Check out the Proven Winners page on 'Freckles', which shows a good image of both the green and the orange/yellow. Just my opinion, but I think they should have added some info as to why the color can vary to such a degree. http://www.provenwinners.com/plants/detail.cfm?photoID=5682&... |

| I'm still not convinced. Coleus will change color from shade to sun, but I didn't think that they would change their leaf structure from round to lance leafed.
My Freckles is tall and the under leaves are greenish, but still retain the round form.

| What did this coleus do when you moved it to the sun Daryl? I'm curious, because I couldn't find any information on Freckles #2, and your plant is very different in shape, as well as color, from all the photos of Freckles I can find.

| Just read a little better. The one at new leaf states, Freckles, CLONE. I think that word Clone is an operative word...
