I am a novice in palm cultivation (actually, in any kind of plants cultivation) and I'd like to ask all of you, the garden's elders, about this : I'm growing several palms and some bananas at my balcony and some of them have already sprouted, so I put them in small pots and left them there, waiting for the first leaf to appear (that is for the palms, since my abyssinian bananas have already put out the first leaf and keep growing). My question is: Right now the pots with the germinated palm seeds get about 2 or 3 hours of direct sun, in an air temperature between 32C and 35C. Can this do any damage to the seeds or the growing roots? Also, should I place the bananas in total shade conditions? I also grow some caesalpinias and they don't seem to get hurt by the sun, although still seedlings...They grow quite fast, actually. Last question, related to the previous: The containers with the seeds that haven't germinated yet (plastic food containers or plastic pots sealed in garbage bags) are also get some direct sunlight, since it seems to me logical that some extra heat should accelerate germination. Should I keep them there or remove them to a shadier position? Thanks to all...
