Hi I am new to this forum, I am usually in the tomato forum all the time. Well my question is have any of you tried this play and freeze ice cream maker? Also, my husband is lactose intolerant which means I have to keep buying the lactose free ice cream all the time, and it gets expensive plus I have only found vanilla flavor and a chocolate flavor icecream for him and they are not very good at all, if I was to purchase an ice cream maker, could I make lactose free ice cream?

I'm lactose intolerant, too, but I buy the Lactaid pills instead. They aren't really more expensive than the lactose-free products. You can carry them along so that you can eat milk products anywhere & the regular milk products TASTE so much better (I tried the lactose-free milk ONCE - that was enough). And the chewable pills don't actually taste bad, either (though I think the non-chewable ones are cheaper). I've also had success just crumbling up the pill into ice cream (don't do this for hot foods - it de-activates the enzyme).

As for the ice cream maker, sorry. I have never tried that one.

Thank you for the response, yes my husband is taking those pills too, actually this are the only pills that work for him but he told me that even with the pills he can only eat so much dairy. I usually buy soy milk, and we really like it, actually I don't even buy regular milk for me because I like the soy just fine as for ice cream he eats regular ice cream too but in smaller quantities.
By the way I saw the play and freeze ice cream maker and purchased it made ice cream with regular cream and also with lactose free milk, the ice cream was O.K although it was a little liquid in the center, so I think I am going to return it.

Can't you make ice cream with soy milk?

(I don't know, I'm just asking- it seems logical to me)

I did, but the ice cream was not very good at least with this ice cream ball, I am not sure how it would taste with an automatic ice cream maker.
