I am always hoping more and more people will plant palms here in So CAl- we have such a good climate for them and the horrible pines and sycamores being planted by the moronic cities often look sickly as well as making us look less tropical than we are. With the recent popularity of Majesty palms in the last 10 years, southern Californians have at least one 'new' species of palm that is really cheap and does fairly well, as long as given plenty of water (I have seen many grown poorly here and many taken right out of the greenhouse and tossed into the hot summer sun just to fry and die (or at least look horrible for a long time before making a recovery). But below is a home of someone who obviously decided these might make good landscaping palms even before they were that popular. I am guessing the palms in this yard are at least 10 years old, which is just about when they we being introduced in large numbers in California. Before that, this was a rare palm (hard to believe now). And I think it looks pretty good. They obviously water their palms well as there is very little 'pinching' of the necks of these palms. Just thought I'd share.
