These are certainly well taken care of. I am a fan of Ravenea rivularis and I usually see them under-watered or under-fertilized. So they are usually yellow and have narrow trunks for the palm. These are monsters.
You are certainly right about the abuse they often get, yet here in the valley, most plant them in their lawns and 'accidentally' keep them in great shape that way.
