These are beautiful pictures. I bought a Higan Cherry (Prunus subhirtella) at a local nursery, both names were on the tag. However, it says the full height is 12 feet. I've now seen two of these trees in my area that have been in the ground for at least 10 and they are only 12 feet. The have a fairly thick trunk but have not grown taller. I have the room and want the full size tree, but now I'm not sure where to plant the one I have because I'm not sure how big it will really get. Does anyone have any information to why these trees are not growing -- maybe a graft of some other tree. Where should I be looking on the tree? If it were a graft near the ground, it shouldn't stop the tree from growing in height...right? I'm confused.
