A co-worker of my husband's gave us this plant. He told my hubby that you use the leaves in stir-fry. Is it some kind of ginger. Our friend speaks very broken English and didn't know the English name of the plant.

It reminds me of our ginger, also, but the leaves and stem are thinner than ours. Perhaps it's a younger plant than ours is...
