I'm finding out that shopping for glass is no way near as much fun as looking for fabrics when I used to do a LOT of sewing.

Grrrrrrr,
I need a black or very dark grey glass for Toby's saddle and mask.

I have some plain ol black but I do not think it will look good.

Any of you x-pert arteests have suggestions ?

Is there anything like a black Granite or something else with texture ?

I have piece of red granite now if only I could find a black/charcoal.

*going off to sulk and pout now *

lol ... now do you see why I said you can have a mountain of glass and it always seems you never have the piece you wish you had?
poor little punkin ... hee!

vecchio
water glass
Spectrum Murano Spirit
muffle
anything rough rolled
As you already know they all have texture ... but they don't look like granite.

Uroboros makes a black ripple that might work. They have one with striations, (black fibroid) that would mimic fur. #705696.

These are tested compatible for fusing, I think they are standard 1/8 inch art glass but wonder if it can be used for foiling ?

On one of my CDs I found a dark translucent opal called 'Thunderhead' which looks like a good prospect.

Cheers */;-)

Any fusible glass can be used to foil.
Thunderhead is pretty but doggone it when you buy small pieces of this kinda glass online you just don't know what you'll get. You might receive the tail end of something without much pattern to it. :( . Maybe your experience will be different from mine. You can always set it aside for a future something else if it doesn't work.

This is why, if at all possible, we should support our local stained glass dealers. When selecting glass for a project, nothing compares to being able to go into a store and look at actual pieces of glass.

Agreed. Especially for a pricey glass ... I want to see it before I buy it.

Alas, the only studio reasonably close-by seldom has anything I am looking for.

Personally I'd love nothing better than to limit my glass purchases to local Mom and Pop shops but good grief, heavens to betsy, holey cow, great snort, their prices are horrible. Even with shipping costs I save soooooooo much money from buying online. The patterns might not always be perfect but no glass goes to waste at my house lol! I can always find some kind of use for it.
