Here's a very prickly addition to my volunteer sunflowers along the fence. Starts out in bud that is brilliant orange red then flowers with golden dandelion-like petals with that orange in the middle and then the orange disappears.
The have no fragrance.
Its a Safflower - Cathamus tinctorius, it has a long history so I'm adding a hyperlink.

Do you have birdfeeders....???? All sorts of mysterious things come up from birdseed. My girlfriend has corn coming up in her flowerbeds courtesy of the birds and you should seed the odd plants that sprout in my gardens. I have feeders everywhere!!!
Yes, this is right amongst the volunteer sunflowers from my wintertime bird feeder right outside my window where the computer is. :)
Maybe that's where the volunteer Dill came from too. :)
