I need to replace my front doorbell. For some reason the plastic on my original one has started to crumble. I've bought the new part, but nowhere on the package does it mention turning off the electricity before attempting the replacement. Since I'd feel sorta foolish flying off my porch backwards I thought I'd ask. ;-) Is this something I should worry about?

Thanks! VJ

You don't have t turn it off.
Doorbells are low voltage 12-18 volts.
It won't hurt you.

Thank you! I appreciate the help. Electricity always scares me a little, never hurts to make sure of what you're doing with it!

I put in a new door belll, a dragonfly made of brass with a light behind the push button part and it as easy as pie! Just unscrew the old one and attach new bell after removing your wires. You do however need very small slotted and
phillips screwdrivers to work on these small parts. Have fun!!

Thanks Julie!

Would you believe I still haven't gotten around to replacing the doorbell???!!! Yikes! This weekend for sure! I'm hosting one of those home parties and I don't want a broken doorbell to be everyone's first impression.

Thank you both!

VJ
