Hi earthworm13, I grew this plant from a cutting when I had my nursery so that would have been the late summer of 2003. I remember I had low take on the cuttings but there were some that made it and the neighbour bought this from me and its starting to do well. I've done a bit of reading and they are finicky about placement and I found that I had better take on cuttings with the incorporation of sand. I haven't seen any flowers on this one yet so we're still waiting. Good luck with yours and give it a bit of "coolness" if it's hot there. They seem to like that.
Its going to go into a mostly shady area as soon as the weather cools down enough to redo the area that I'm redoing. I fell in love with this shrub visiting the Bridge of Flowers in Shellburne Falls in Mass. It was in shade. So I hope mine will do ok.
Yours is doing beautifuly. It looks very happy where it is. Thanks so much for your info on the soil. I will add some sand.
