Hi gang!
Some years ago my hub's re-modeled our large walk-in closet for a jaccuzz for himself and built another closet(smaller)on one wall of the bedroom. Over the years his clothes,hunting/fishing gear and other asundry of cr...*stuff* has taken up all the room so now I have no place to put my clothes. I made the suggest last night to remove the tub/shower combo from my side of the bathroom and install a shower head in the jaccuzz. He said he couldn't run water up the wall to a shower head in the jaccuzz. Is he just trying to get out of a re-model since there is water pipe over there but not actually thru or on that wall?If it is true water can't be run up behind that wall is there a fixture that can be installed for a shower that doesn't have to go on/behind that wall.
I do not like to sit in a tub of my own dirt and prefer to shower...and I need closet space!

I'm not a plumber, but in my mind you can run water pipe pretty much wherever you want, it's just a matter of how much time and effort (and money if you hire someone else to do it) it will take to get it where you want it. Since you already have the jacuzzi tub there, there are definitely water pipes in the vicinity, but it'll probably require a bit of wall damage/repair to extend the pipes to where you want it. I don't know if your hubby's trying to get out of work though...there likely isn't a water pipe going right to where you need it (it probably only extends as far as the faucet for the jacuzzi), and if that's the case then it could be a project that's better handled by a plumber. You might shop around first though before you rip into your walls--I'm pretty sure they sell things that you can hook to the tub faucet and make a shower out of it, usually these were developed for the old-fashioned tubs that didn't come with a shower, but they might be able to connect to the faucet for your jacuzzi tub anyway. |

The wall is beaded pine board with nothing else behind it.The back side is the water heater closet. Hub's has done all our plumbing...we built the house from the ground up with our own two hands and hands of a couple relatives. The only thing we didn't build, are the kitchen cabinets. My neighbor's uncle built those for us.

If he's done all your plumbing so far, then it sounds to me like he's trying to get out of a project! Unless he can come up with a better explanation for why you couldn't reroute a pipe up there. Still probably worth looking into the fixture attachment sort of thing first so you can save him some work though! |
