CLOSED: Robber Fly

Somebody told me it was, anyway. I've got them emerging from the ground in my yard..big things. Probably a couple dozen already. Anybody know insects and know what species?

Oh, by emerging I mean they are HATCHING and coming up out of the ground. Some are different...this one had just hatched when I found it. I'm beginning to wonder if there's any end to this!
