I have had a lot of Questions about the grants I'm getting.
The grants I'm getting are coming from my local EDC. They offer 6 different grants and i can get 2 or 3 of them so far. I'm not sure how much grant $$ I'm going to get yet. I still have a long way to go. But they do work with you and will help you all the way threw the process.

You have to have a Business plan and apply for the grants.
Here is the list of grants they offer.

New Business start-up, Max amount available $2,000

Business Expansion/ relocation, max $2,000

New job creation,
full time, $3.000
Part time, $1,500

Exterior building improvement max, 4,000
Grant pays 50% of total project cost. You have to spend the $$ and they give you the % back.

Interest rate buy down grant.
Max $10.000
will pay the interest on a small business loan.

Other,,,
Not sure the max but it cover a lot of things just need to ask.

I'm not sure if all EDC grants are the same but this is what mines offers.
Once i got my Business plan done and i have the start-up cost and all the equipment I'm going to need i will go to the board and state my case and ask for the $$.
I was told that so far no one has been turned down for $$, but not always get as much as they ask for so inflate all you cost as much as you can.

Once i have everything together on prices and what I'm going to need to get it going they will work with me on all the grants and where things will fall under.
I'm just getting out of my concept stage so i have a lot of work and a long way to get to the grant point.
Some of the grants you have to be open for, others not. But if you get the grants you HAVE 1 year to open your doors. Since I'm not going to open till 2008 i will start asking for some of the grants in 2007.

I was up there for 4 hours yesterday, we were going over a bunch of stuff. Anyway she let me look at a few Business plans they had got requesting grants. Some where very long and in detail and 1 i read was one page. The board consists of 7 people and you have to stand up and explain your business and what you need the $$ for, and how you will spend it and on what.
I live in a tinny town where everyone knows everyone so its very laid back.
I hope this helps, and please just look into it you never know unless you ask right?
The way they look at it is. If they can help you open a business they get a % of your city's sales tax so its a win, win situation.
