OK, here's an amateur's attempts at watercolors. I'm definitely not in the same league as Gary, and these are the first 4 I've done, so y'all remember to grade on the curve! LOL

Thank you all so much for the kind words of encouragement. I love watercolor, but I have a long way to go to get where I'd like to be with this medium. We're taking another trip to Scotland the first of September and I know I'll come back with another load of photos to work from for more paintings, so hopefully you'll get to see a few more if I can do anything worth posting.

Very impressive Crow. I could never get the watercolors to do a thing! Maybe this forum will provide the boost you need just in time for your trip!

You are all most kind. I'll post a couple of my favorite Scotland pics when we return. I've travelled a lot and I think Scotland is the most beautiful place I've ever been. It seems that around every curve and over evey hill there's another beautiful vista that just begs to be painted. I wish I could do them justice, but if practice makes better, I'll improve. In just the few weeks I've been at this, I'm beginning to get a feel for the paints and a little more control with the washes. Thanks again.

Sure, y'all all come on and go. We'll be a "garden party" looking for a place to happen! I'll warn sister-in-law that there will be a few extras for dinner. She's been warned about the Texas invasion as it is, since my brother and his wife are going with us. A funny with my Texas accent and her Scottish one happened the first time I met her, she came in the kitchen at her mom's house and asked if I was all right. I replied "You Bettcha!". She got the funniest look on her face and turned to my husband and said "What did she just call me?" I cracked up as my husband tried to quickly explain that it translated to mean "You bet, I'm fine" and not "you b*&!ch, you". So, maybe I could use some of y'all along as translators!

lmbo . . . that's too funny @ You Bet'cha :))

Crow . . . you're do'n great and certainly on the right track. If you have the desire and patience, you'll be doing more than justice to those beautiful vistas in no time at all :) Practice is the key . . . it's like anything else, the more you experiment and experience, the more comfortable you will become. If there's anything I can do to help, don't hesitate to ask. I'm no expert by any stretch, but I've gotten comfortable enough with watercolors to offer a few tips here and there. :)

Better take extra film or digital camera memory cards with ya to Scotland. . . wouldn't want ya to leave any of those beautiful views behind . . . or else we may have to go back and get them for ya ;)

I talked to my sister in law in Scotland last night and she said it's really getting cold there! Aaaaahhhh, I can feel it already. I'm so looking forward to a couple of weeks in cooler weather. We leave the third of Sep. and I'm counting the days.
