I have a ceramic tile floor in the kitchen. One of the tiles has recently gotten a crack in it - a y-shaped crack. I noticed it when I stepped on the tile and it felt a little loose. Is there anything I can use to seal up that crack so that it doesn't become a bigger crack?
You could fill the crack with grout to re-seal it, but a better option would be to replace that tile. If the tile is already loose, it should be very easy. All you have to do it pop out that tile, clean the grout & mortar out of the space, then set a new tile in place. The hadest part is usually finding a matching tile. If you need more detailed directions, just let me know. Your local Lowes/HD should have grout saws, grout & everything else you'd need.
What about repairing a small chip in limestone composite tile (Congoleum DuraStone)? Those things are huge (over 12" by 12"), very expensive, and we were left with only 3 of them when the job was done.
That one I'm not sure about, but, at a guess, there is probably an epoxy-like patch for it. I would talk either to your contractor or the manufacturer about it.
