This was done from a painting by an artist who signs his/her work simply 'Sibley'. I loved the piece and decided to try my hand at it. I think it turned out well.

Forgot to mention, since I will surely be aksed, the piece is doen in acrylics. I usually stick to acryullics or watercolors. With five cats and no studio, I don't dare try oils...

Bama, that's Peggy Thatch Sibley, and you've done
an outstanding job of reproducing it.

Here's a link to some of her work:

Cool! Thanks so much! I really like her work. I found another Magnolia in Red that has two blossoms that would make a good match to the one I did. It is really too small to go over my mantel, but David insists on hanging it there. If I can do the other one as well as I did this one, then it would look better having two of them, since the one is too small for the space. I also found another piece by her that I really like called Purple Clematis.

She is really talented in my opinion...

In the opinion of quite a few, Bama.
Have you seen the prices she fetches?

No, I haven't seen her prices. The link you posted had $0,000 for the prices..which I took to either be a typo or "If you have to ask, you can't afford it"...LOL!

My cousin charges something like $60k per painting. But her paintings are HUGE...and she only does a couple of paintings a year (if that). She makes a lot off her prints.

Thank you GD...that means a lot!

Jeannie Maddox is your cousin? Wow! I love her stuff. The reflections in glass - I almost expect to see her there with an easel in front of her!
You come from a talented family - no wonder yours is so good! LOL
Seriously, I am constantly amazed at all you can do.

JeannIe is awesome. You should see her stuff in person. I was looking at a print at my other cousin's house the other day...and didn't realize ti was a Praint. I thought it was a photo of the beach and was bragging to my DH that the picture was the way the beaches actually look at Seagrove. When my cuz pointed out that it was a print of one of Jeannie's paintings, I almost fell out of my chair.

When Jeanne was a teenager, she painted a mural in her mother's hallway. When her mom got older, she painted over the mural...said she got tired of lookign at it after all those years. I can't help but wonder as she developed Alzheimer's shrotly after that. I iamgine if she had left it, the house would have sold for a LOT more than the market price.

My grandmother was really talented as well. She always had some sort of craft or art project going. For many years she painted China. Wish I had the China painting supplies...unfortunately, my uncle took them for one of his kids...who hasn't done a THING with them. Grrrr...
