realistically, if you were to redo your kitchen, how much is too much? i have a small 2 bedroom, 1 bath on 1.5 acres. we put on an addition (dining room), replaced the furnace, replaced the windows, insulated, redid the bath, added a wine cellar, an exercise/playroom, a laundry room, a stone patio and landscaped and are now thinking about doing the kitchen. the kitchen is original 1930s so it really needs to be done, but we are arguing over what we need. dh says we need an island, huge commercial range, granite countertops, cherry cabinets etc. i say no island, and oak/maple cabs. our kitchen is 16 x 16.he's talking about 20-30 thousand for the kitchen. i think that there comes a point where you are actually improving too much.
