I am so glad that I found this new forum. I am a watercolor artist and love to show my work. This Watercolor that I am working on is of my kids. It isn't quite done yet. The back ground needs a bit of work. When my family and I went to Bryce Canyon I was taking pictures left and right because it was so beautiful there. I noticed how neat it was to see my kids faces light up with the sites. I wanted to capture that so this photo was taken. This painting measures 27" X 16.5" and has taken me a bit to do...I do several paintings at once.
The subject matter that I enjoy painting the most is people. I graduated from Utah State University with a BFA in illustration. Utah State's illustration dept. really focuses on drawing the figure and so I got my love of painting people from that experience.
Lately I have been trying my hand at florals. I really love to garden so it is my way to enjoy my garden that much more. You will find me snapping away with my camera almost everywhere. I think that photography is just as fun.
Lissy, the perspective is right on. Great composition.
Yes, you are indeed a figurative painter. Wonderful.
Thanks for showing it to us.
Was your son wearing that blue shirt, or did you alter
the color, because it really brings your eye forward
and the focus is on the children, not the setting.
I'm assuming that was your intent, as you stated.
Mahnot~ Yes, I changed the color of my sons shirt to be blue. I wanted the kids to be the focal point so I used the complementary color blue against the dominant oranges and reds that will be present in the finished painting. I am glad that it is working. Thanks for the comment. It helps out a lot.
Wonderful! I used to do pencil sketches of people, but have never painted them...it's beyond me. You've captured the grandeur of the scenery and the awe of the kids at seeing it. I hope you'll let us see more. And some of your florals as well.
