Hello,
I'm Hoobie. I live in the central part of Alabama down in a valley at the edge of double oak mountain. I love dogs and cats and plants of all kinds. My Mama has had the most beautiful "Alfias" all my life but lately they've lost all color to their blooms. They used to be a beautiful blue and pink or purple but now they are all white. What caused that?
Hi Hoobie and welcome to DG. Hope you enjoy this site as I am. Sorry can't help you with your 'flower' problem but could it be 'not enough iron in the soil'. Only guessing!! We have Hydrangeas in Australia and to change and deepen their colour we add iron to the soil. Depending on the amount of iron - the flowers would change colour: pink - purple to blue colours. My grandmother use to put heaps of nails around the base of her plants!!!!! Don't know if this helps (I don't have green thumbs - but try very hard!!!!). But welcome anyway. :-) Lee
I don't know about 'Rose of Sharon' but the theory is 'if it works for one - can it work for the other'!!! I don't know but it would be interesting to discover if it works!!!! :-) Lee
Welcome Hoobie, have fun learning, growing and sharing the fun of gardening and so much more.No question too big nor too small. Hope the colors return to your Rose of Sharons! ;0)
