I've been posting occasionally but never thought to introduce myself. My DH and I relocated from California to New Mexico five years ago and are still adjusting. After four years of drought, we now have had endless rains since July, a lot of serious flooding throughout the state. At least we don't worry about earthquakes anymore, which was a big relief for us. Gardening in New Mexico is certainly a challenge. I wondered when we moved here why people had vast areas of crushed rock instead of flower gardens around their houses. Now I know! We don't have a lot of free time so I finally went xeric in our two-level yard and the results are pleasing and relatively care free.

On the personal side, I have a graphic design business, am starting my fourth and final year of ministerial studies in September, and I do hospice work several days a week. I love the warmth and friendliness of Dave's Garden.

Hi and Welcome to DG. You will enjoy it here as I do.
Wished we had your rains - we have been in 'drought' conditions for the last 3 years and it doesn't look like getting any better!! :-) Lee

It's really dry up here. We are actually in a Stage 3 drought this year. Very hot and very dry. We need a solid week of nothing but drizzle. No storms or rain but the nasty drizzle. That would help soooo much!!

I know what you mean. We go to Stage 4 next week, which we thought we would be. There goes my garden plans for a while!!!! LOL I'll have plenty of time to read those books and magazines to give me more ideas of what I can do in the garden!!!! LOL
I only pray that we don't have lots of heavy rain - like yourself we need constant drizzle - and days/months of it. If it pours, as the ground is so hard and dry, we would have bad flooding!!! Ironic isn't it!!!!! :-) Lee

Well, we got the storms. And tornadoes and flooding. But we had small breaks so it got to soak a little bit but not much. Could have been worse. Tere were no injuries or deaths. Yea!!

We don't have anything like tornadoes or big storms. Haven't seen a big storm for about 2 years. We may occassionaly get the 'sound & light' show (Thunder and Lightening) but nothing comes from it!! Today is the first day of Spring - so there goes Winter with only 8 days of LIGHT rain out of 3 months!!! Hope we can get some rain during spring or even our water tanks are going to run dry!!! Won't have enough water from the tanks to water anything!!!! Must learn all about Cactus and Desert plants - that might be our only hope of having any garden!!!! LOL :-) Lee

Hi roadrunner. I've been enjoying the SW Gardening Forum. Wish I'd discovered it when we first moved here. I would have saved myself a lot of "fried" annuals! I'm not a dedicated gardener but really love seeing what others do.

June...ME TOO! God put me here as an "appreciator"...I appreciate the efforts of others...be it gardening, art, music or dance...I can do none of them...but I love them all. Jo
