Yesterday morning at first light was one of those wonderful Minnesota early fall mornings with soft breezes, golden sunlight, and cool but not crisp temperatures. I just had to grab my camera, set it to "flowers" and get outside - shot about 100 digital photos!
Once we enter September, we know frost could happen before too long, so these special days are to be cherished.
Here are 19 of the close-ups. No, the colors are not exact because the early morning sun changes the colors just a bit, but they are close. It was a magical hour or two - I lost track of time.
What beautiful flowers, and such a large selection blooming after such a hot summer. Do you have any pictures of your garden as a whole. I would love to see it.
My yard is always a work in progress it seems. This year the patio and back porch needed work, so I tried to avoid that mess! The wider view shots posted to date are missing part of the yard. Perhaps I can find some of the rest that were taken earlier this year.
We're having a cold snap up here in Minnesota - frost warnings for the northern part of the state - so I am looking longingly at the yard, trying to capture the feeling in my heart to tide me over to spring.
The datura that struggled so with the heat are now trying galantly to open in the cool air. The big white single flowers seem to handle it OK, but the double yellow and double purple are staying tightly furled. A few lingering hardy hibiscus flowers open and close with the cool air. The Mini Pearl, Pardon Me, Rosy Returns and Happy Returns daylilies galantly bloom on, opening their last few buds even in the cold rain.
